Homeware brand Toast Living has partnered with Hong Kong studio Milk Layout to produce a five-piece ceramic, glass and copper-coloured homeware variety for coffee lovers (+ slideshow).

Milk Design’s HAND assortment features a coffee dripper, glass carafe, wooden-lidded kettle, and trio of mugs in pink, dark blue and light blue.

The mugs feature somewhat tapered sides and sturdy handles, although the double-walled glass carafe protects users’ hands from hot coffee.

The set’s cone-shaped copper-coloured wire dripper has been created to hold paper filters, and rests neatly in the best of the carafe. Angled spokes preserve the filter in spot, whilst a small tab on the side permits it to be eliminated when brewing is finished.

“You can handle the speed and temperature flawlessly with the HAND dripper as it is not effortlessly blocked by coffee powder,” said Toast Residing. “The coffee flavour created by this dripper is light and balanced.”

The HAND kettle is also copper-coloured, and characteristics a circular wooden lid with a hole in the centre, a slender curved spout and an oblong metal handle that is half covered in wood.

“The thin spout is not only classy but also permits water to movement gradually and predictably all through the kettle even with a modest quantity of water,” explained the brand.

A relatively more premium copper coffee set was recently launched by British designer Tom Dixon, designed to “ideal every single stage of the coffee ritual”.

Much more unusual coffee-associated design contains Memphis Group founding member Michele de Lucchi’s ribbed aluminium moka for Alessi, and German designer Julian Lechner’s cups that have been produced from a blend of recycled coffee grounds and all-natural glues.

Earlier this year, college students from the Collaborative and Industrial Style programme at Helsinki’s Aalto University reimagined the shapes of coffee machines, referring to laboratory gear and Modernist architecture.
