A fairly simple space was transformed into something truly unique: honestly, when have you seen most recently as a successful and at the same time great individual design? Perfectly Balancing A Fresh Concept With Versatility: Mondana Bag Stool

Maneuvering furniture around the house would probably be more provoking if the products in question came with… straps. Designers Alessandra Mantovani and Eleonora Barbareschi took this crazy idea to another level when planning Mondana Bag, an unconventional stool for Italian company Riva1920. We don’t know about you guys, but we really enjoy the look of this seemingly playful item, even though it may not be the most comfortable chair in the world. Balancing conceptualization with versatility, this stool is definitely a “fresh” piece to display in a feminine living room with a twist.

According to the designers, the idea was to visually remove a common-use item (keep in mind that the handbag is considered an icon nowadays) from its natural context and combine it with wood, as a “homage to Pop Art”. Made of of solid cedar wood, the seat is naturally finished and outfitted with leather for a more genuine look. The monolith wood block inspires sturdiness, yet combines with the straps, it instantly gets a perky, exuberant look. Enjoy the photos and tell us what you think!

Joost Van Bleiswijk Assembles Industrial Components Into Furniture Pieces

Dutch Design Week 2014: Eindhoven designer Joost van Bleiswijk has collaged together found objects and old machine parts to make this range of furniture and lighting.

The Collage project started two years ago, when Joost van Bleiswijk began collecting leftover items from around his studio.

He picked up discarded pieces of industrial equipment and tools, amassing a set of individual unused pieces.

Van Bleiswijk decided to repurpose these items by combining them into useful furniture and lighting products.

“As we were cleaning up the mess, I used many items we found in the workshop and combined them into several objects,” said Van Bleiswijk. “Old machines, that were ready to be thrown away, ventilation pipes, and leftover pieces of wood and paint formed the base of these unique items.”

Different metal elements are bolted and welded together, creating pieces that stack up like totem poles.

A curved section of ductwork is used to hold a rectangular blue cabinet off the ground. The cabinet door is opened by pulling a valve wheel stuck on the centre of the door.

The assemblage sits on a grey-painted wooden transportation palette.

Another piece of beige pipe supports an orange platform, on which a lamp with a copper disk diffuser is placed.

Part of a pylon-like stand from one of the designer’s Construction Lamps is sandwiched in a tower between a base plinth and a metal balanced-arm lamp on top.

Another lighting piece comprises an illuminated tube secured at either end by a pair of clamps, stood on a metal bracket bolted to a four-legged base.

The pieces are on display in the studio space that Van Bleiswijk shares with partner and fellow designer Kiki van Eijk.

The duo’s combined exhibition is open for the duration of Dutch Design Week, until 26 October. Both have also designed rugs for ICE International that are on show for the event.

Terrace Design In Color Red And Green

A red and a green terrace, which bring home the warmth of nature In today’s article, we want to show you how to do a similar feeling by two very different approaches. Since today we have two areas that are dominated by both the red and green color. But both lead to a great inner harmony and a feeling of being close to nature.

Here they are. See for whether we have right in our estimation!In the first picture, the Red not only of the cabinets is present. Through the dark shaded, warm wood trim, it seems to go through all the details. Everywhere, where the reddish highlights remain otherwise discreet, are now very strong. Have you noticed the strong effect of red flowers in the two large containers of plants in the right part of the image? And how great is the number with the decorative tiles on the back, don’t you? Also the small decorative items in the shelf and the red colours in the screen seem to stand out anymore. The grey and green accents are almost desperately here, so that you don’t burn in this red “fire”!

Here you can see the longer perspective of the same room. It is apparently an open floor plan, dining room and kitchen combined. The same thing has been said before, is also here. The wooden bench on the side has got a red upholstery. The flowers in the basket-like flower container on the table have been also carried out in one of the bright shades of red. The whole thing is dynamic, extremely rustic by materials, and as a result close to nature.

The green in the next image is just as overwhelming as the red. Apparently you decided so, to leave that has been effect in places an ombre dominate this shading. You did this in the case of the green plant container. You have been carried out in a consumed mixed with blue shade of green. It appears brighter than the leaves.

The remaining colors that are found here are mainly different shades of Brown, grey, light grey and white. Here, the equipment as shown in the picture is before very close to nature. But this time it’s not like on the land, but like in the forest.
