Showing Off Jenna Sue

OK everybody. Get ready. Sit down, busy the kids, turn off your phone. Cause I’m about to keep you occupied for hours. HOURS people.

I am introducing you to my latest blog crush today and if you are like me you’ll be hooked as well. This girl is good. I’ve been reading Jenna Sue’s blog for a while now and I keep going to back to read older posts because I love her style so much. Finding a blog that I love is so. much. fun. I am excited to share her with you today because I think you’ll love her home too!

Let’s start at the foyer of her California home, shall we?:

black interior doors

All I have to say is white planked walls, wood accents and a black door. That is all. No other words needed.

Jenna Sue runs her business from home and has pretty office with beautiful view. I love how she’s organized the space:

wood crate hanging organization

She has a lot of supplies but everything is put together so well! My drawers stuffed with crap are looking mighty sad in comparison. 😉

OK. The kitchen. You have to see the before pics to appreciate it. I take that back – you can appreciate it just fine as it is: built in bench kitchen

I love built in anything and but benches make my heart sing.

You’ll notice planked walls everywhere – the ceilings with wood beams as well. It adds so much warmth to her house:

I now want to plank ALL THE WALLS in our house.

I knew I would love her style when I saw the dark gray wall behind her bed. 🙂 Love the mix of rustic and traditional in her master bedroom:

rustic bedroom planked walls

Love those bedside sconces!

Her family room is undergoing a renovation right now but this corner of the room is looking fantastic:

white planked walls

I’m usually a dark hardwood girl but those floors are so pretty! They serve as a perfect backdrop to her neutral decor.

I love the fall touches she’s been sharing lately as well:

natural wood cabinet

You can see how she made over that cabinet here.

And last but certainly not least, you HAVE to see her deck:

outdoor chair no arms

Seriously dreamy. I mean, the views?

Ridiculous. Love it!:

Marc Mimram Designs "delicate Pleated Roof" For Montpellier's New TGV Station

News: French architect Marc Mimram has been selected to create a new train station in Montpellier – a building that will bridge over the railway line and feature an intricate pleated roof .

Marc Mimram’s Paris-based architecture and engineering firm will create the 3,500-square-metre station for TGV, France’s high-speed rail network, in the Odysséum district that sits between the city centre and the airport.

It will create a fast link to the nearby city of Nîmes, and will also connect with the existing Perpignan-to-Barcelona line to reduce journey times between the Spanish city and Paris.

The building is conceived as a “garden station”, with a fibre-reinforced concrete roof shaped into five eight-metre-wide domes. Each of these domes will feature rows of pleats designed to throw dappled shadows across the station concourse.

According to the architect, the varying light and shadow will make travellers aware of the changing climate and seasons outside.

“We want to create a garden station, a station of the senses that delights travellers and allows them to engage with the beauty of their surroundings,” said Mimram, describing the setting as “beautiful”.

The architect, whose buildings include a recent addition to Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture, continued: “Our design addresses the emotions of meeting, waiting and departing and creates a bright and airy space that, even in the short time a person might spend in the station, will engage them with the nature of Montpellier.”

Fibre-reinforced concrete beams and slender steel columns will support the roof, with spans across the entire width of the bridge-like station.

The public concourse will be located on the first floor and passengers will descend to the lower level to board trains. A tram will serve the station from the city centre, arriving at a sheltered area in front of the station’s first-floor entrance.

Mimram will work with local architect Emmanuel Nebout, contractor EGIS and developer Icade to deliver the €142.7 million project.

Construction works will begin early next year, and the team will be responsible for the maintenance and operation of the station for a 15-year-period.

Nendo Reconfigures Office Furniture Elements Into Hybrid Designs For Kokuyo

Japanese studio Nendo has spliced together traditional office furniture pieces to create simple combined desks and storage units .

Nendo designed the set of matte black iron furniture by taking the basic elements used in the workplace and merging them into new configurations.

“We broke the office down into its smallest components – desks, chairs and shelving – then put it back together again, creating new relationships between the component items to explore the possibilities of future office space,” said the studio.

Examples include a desk with multiple perpendicular edges and rectangular holes in the middle, so many users can work on the same surface.

A large thin storage unit is divided into two sections by a central partition. A small work surface is integrated as an continuation of a shelf on one side, while more horizontal elements pass over the sitter’s head.

As in all the pieces, the desk area is denoted by thin vertical supports.

In a smaller shelving stack, the planes extend out to form a podium and a desk in tiers. The users place their chairs on the raised platform and work off the floor.

A set of steps extruded from another tall shelving stack allow access to the higher spaces and also create a contained work environment beneath the treads.

Finally, a waiting area is created by fixing a series of office chairs within a low flat shelf that again extends at a right angle from a storage unit.

The studio created the series of objects for office furniture brand Kokuyo, for which it previously designed units that can be screwed together with a coin rather than tools.

“While our demands on office space become only more and more diverse, office furniture has not changed along with these demands and remains oddly standardised,” said Nendo.

“In contrast, our installation tried to capture the spirit of Kokuyo Furniture by returning to the fundamental principles of the office and asking what, ultimately, an office is.”

The brand’s Inspine chair is used in the photography and will feature along with the furniture for an installation titled “shelf + desk + chair = office”, which will be displayed in Hall 7 of the Orgatec trade event in Cologne from 21 to 25 October.

Proposed Mountain Hostel By Atelier 8000 Looks Like It Has Crashed Into The Earth

This giant cube that appears to have landed on its side in the mountains is a proposal by Czech studio Atelier 8000 for a facilities building in Slovakia’s High Tatras peaks .

Kežmarské Hut by Atelier 8000

With the “succinct shape of a simple cube” that appears to have been dropped at random onto the snowy landscape, Atelier 8000’s design would create dining and accommodation for people trekking across Slovakia’s highest mountain range.

“Due to its position within the landscape the cuboid evokes an erratic block left behind by the retreating glacier,” said the design team.

“In the context of mountain peaks the sharp edges of the building merge into the outline of the neighbouring rocks when viewed from distance and thus naturally join the landscape of the site.”

Kežmarské Hut by Atelier 8000

According to the designers, the orientation of the structure would allow three sides of it to be visible from any given point around its perimeter.

Each of these surfaces would present a square grid, made up of photovoltaics, windows and aluminium panels, in an arrangement designed to generate as much solar energy as possible and minimise the building’s carbon footprint.

“The glass surfaces of windows and photovoltaic panels along with the light transparency of the metal plating complete the whole picture of the site with a touch of glimmer – just like the glints and reflections which can be observed on the surface of a mountain lake or on thawing ice,” said the designers.

Atelier 8000 developed the proposal for the Kežmarská Hut architectural competition, which asked applicants to design a building offering accommodation, a restaurant, a medical facility, skiing storage and a garage for a snowmobile.

The competition was won by Architektonická Sútaž, so Atelier 8000’s concept is now unlikely to make it off the drawing board.
