MINUSKULL ENCEINTE AMPLIFIÉE PAR KUNTZEL DEYGAS Design and style
Eindhoven studio OS & OOS have unveiled a version of their Keystone chair upholstered in textiles from the Raf Simons collection for Danish company Kvadrat.
Made by Danish firm Please Wait to be Seated, the upholstered chair was designed by OS & OOS as a far more practical version of its concrete and ceramic predecessor, and is constructed around a wooden frame.
Associated story: Chair 3/four by Sandro Lominashvili appears like an optical illusion
The Keystone chair characteristics three distinct components that, according to designers Oskar Peet and Sophie Mensen, are “abstracted and reassembled” interpretations of 3 crucial elements discovered in Roman bridges.
Peet and Mensen describe these as: “spanners – elements which connect the bridge to the surface and make certain this foothold does not slide or move – the elemental creating blocks, and the keystone, which when inserted completes the fundamental arch shape.”
The back is formed by a chunky angled element, representing the spanner, while one more arched-shaped section types the seat. These two pieces are joined with each other by the triangular-profiled “keystone”, which sits the opposite way round to how it would in a bridge.
Every single of these parts has been covered in a different textile from the collection developed by style designer Raf Simons for Kvadrat, which launched earlier this year.
“The three separate elements of the chair remain, but upholstered in three distinct colours and textiles from the collections,” said the designers, who saw the fabrics at Milan interior style retailer Spotti in the course of this year’s Salone Internazionale del Mobile in April.
“We have been rather [impressed by] how nicely the textile worked in contrasting combinations, which led us to the notion of employing it for the Keystone chair,” they told Dezeen.
With a concrete backrest and ceramic seat, the original chair was “as far from a commercial solution as it could get,” mentioned Peet and Menson. “We virtually see that chair as a pure investigation in building, form and function.”
The initial design weighed around 450 kilograms and was “constructed and formed around the idea of employing weight as the idea,” but the Raf Simons textiles have been used to soften its appearance for the new model.
“We did not count on the two chairs to feel so different from each and every other to be honest,” Peet and Mensen mentioned. “Proportionally they share every thing with each other, but the tactility of the supplies really set them apart. The use of concrete and stone fits so effectively with the original concept as does employing textile for the lighter version, it just appears to match.”

A single of my preferred annual property tours, in my favorite city, is happening tomorrow in Newburyport, MA. The Holiday House Tour positive aspects the Custom Residence Maritime Museum and attributes some wonderful old and new houses in the historic city of Newburyport and surrounding towns. I’ve been going since I lived there several years ago, though regrettably I am unable to make it this year with all the vacation company. Nevertheless, I just realized that I apparently never ever did a weblog post soon after final year’s tour so I wanted to share some of the highlights here so you can see the high quality of spaces you will see if you go tomorrow.
I loved this cute little detail of the little dog on the side table.
This home was the highlight of the tour. A lately renovated Italianate Victorian. The open notion kitchen and loved ones area is spectacular.
The entire colour palette of whites and grays lended itself to a cool, icy holiday decorating scheme.  A beautiful downstairs lav that pays homage to the Victorian architecture of the property. Stunning stairs and I enjoy the greens on the newel post. Quite romantic mantel decorations in front of an antique mirror. All the specifics had been stunning.  I want a transom window just so I can do this… Another standout home was this Federal style with an ornate entrance. Lovely Adams style fireplaces abound in this home.
A cute “Grinch” themed vacation table. This home wasn’t on the tour, but I really like the packages they wrap their portico columns with every single year.   This traditional Colonial property sits on a corner lot and has a massive further on the back and a spectacular back yard location, which I did not get good images of, regrettably.
The newer addition which housed a great in-law suite. A huge snowstorm was just getting going when I got to this house, so it was a fairly fast tour.
A lovely two-story household room with beautiful millwork and a library on the second floor. The property had some wonderful mural wallpapers which are showcased beautifully by the decor and the holiday decorations.  I loved this show of colorful glassware – so quite! A tiny corner detail.  As you can see – lots of gorgeous concepts abound. I feel I only produced it to four of the 8 or so homes final year – it is a really superb huge tour. If you want to see my posts (three posts!) from two years ago, click here.
A lot more information on this year’s tour is right here. Have fun!

Properly, I finally finished going by means of all of the pictures I took of the girls’ playroom. I took them two diverse days (all while the girls were playing in the area – they have been either in the window seats or on the opposite side of the room I was taking pictures of) so that’s why factors are moved around a bit in various photos. =) Even even though all of the pink in right here is a tad overwhelming for me, I have to say this area was a lot of enjoyable to add Christmas touches to and I love being in here. The girls got so excited about the tree and the pink eiffel tower ornaments. We commit hours on end in this room and I have to admit I am going to miss the tree when we take it down in January and so I feel we might leave the little pink lights on the little dollhouse for a even though. I will incorporate the sources for holiday items written within the post and then have the source list for all the permanent things in the room at the finish of the post.   They have been playing in the tiny playhouse their Grammy produced them although I photographed the sofa side of the room. =) The dear head was from Michael’s, the feather boa wreath was from HomeGoods this year, the little toy soldiers have been from HomeGoods last year, and the cute small owl was a present from Savvy. The tree was from Balsam Hill, the pink ornaments were from Michael’s, the Eiffel tower ones and star were from Globe Marketplace. The little sleds had been from years ago and we spray painted them white and gold to go with this area a tiny better. The small bottle brush trees were from Target and the snowballs we produced making use of a exciting tutorial located here. These looked a lot greater before we spray painted them this oh so bright and sparkly hot pink. I tried to talk the girls out of this 1 but they of course feel the shiny pink is Beautiful! =) These cute small trees have been from Savvy last year and the tea set is from Heritage Lace. This little nutcracker was a gift final year and was from Target. The shoes are from Joyfolie.     You can see the complete before and following post right here with all the specifics.
