This mountain chalet realised by SeARCH took my breath away. It functions a dynamic architecture with forceful visual effects on its facade and it enjoys incredible views, being found on best of a hill in the Swiss Alps. The developing is owned by a Dutch entrepreneur, pastime pianist and racing driver who was not happy with its cluttered seem when he purchased it. The studio provided a new vision: a compact, web site distinct layout which will completely fit into the steep hillside. The mountain chalet consists of a solid wooden house with shutters and gable roof, found on a stone basis. Inspired by the spectacular ‘Grand Chalet Balthus’ in Rossinière (CH) with big roof overhangs, the 500 sqm residence was designed within one particular clear volume. First of all, the garage was put in ‘downstairs’, allowing access from the decrease road. A hallway and an elevator carved into the mountain permits complete accessibility to all three amounts of the mountain chalet: the guesthouse downstairs, the principal living places in the middle and a personal apartment in the attic.
