Tayler and Trevor enlisted our good friends at To La Lune Events to help them create “an evening of good cheer, food and dancing” in celebration of their marriage. The result is relaxed, beautiful and all-around joyful. We LOVE the troop of bridesmaids in their mix-and-match pastel gowns paired with gorgeous varied bouquets in vibrant hues from Bloem Hill. But, our favorite part of this lovely day at Lazy V Ranch is definitely the way photographer Suzi Jacobs captured all the smiles and delight of the bride, groom and their guests. Suzi captured some of our favorite wedding-day portraits of all time—hands down—and we know your going to love them too!

What made the wedding special and unique?

What made our wedding so special and unique was that we were able to create a celebration for all of our family & friends who have played such an important role in both, Trevor’s and my life over the years, individually and together as a couple. We wanted our wedding to be a big celebration about our story, our faith, and our community … and lots of dancing! It was so very special to have everyone gathered together to share a meal, dance and get to know one another. Christy and her team were amazing at helping us create this vision and make everything run so smoothly. Also each of our vendors were amazing to work with and all of their hard work blessed us with a perfect wedding day! Trevor and I couldn’t have asked for a better day.

Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!

I love my dress & it was a such a bargain; that’s the best part! At first I had always thought I would go with more of the Bohemian style/look but little did I know, I ended up with an elegant, lacy number. After trying on multiple dresses at a boutique bridal shop which had amazingly beautiful dresses, we ended up at Here Comes The Bride in San Diego. They were having a huge sample sale and my mom was the first to pull my dress out of the racks. Once I tried it on, I knew it was the one. It has amazing lace detail with a more fitted look, and a little twirl factor with a longer train. With some alterations I lowered the back and added more of a sweetheart neck. I felt very feminine, classy and elegant!

What were some touches added to make it personal?

We didn’t have a ton of design detail but with the help of Christy & her team we were able to create little personal touches that added to our special day. Trevor and I wanted our guests to experience an evening of good cheer, food and dancing. Our venue, Lazy V Ranch, was in an incredible setting with mountain silhouettes in the back drop, large hanging oak trees, and an open green landscape. We didn’t need to add much but to create a more intimate feeling, we added candles along our long wooden tables from Folklore Vintage Rentals, beautiful calligraphy signage, and gorgeously crafted florals. We did a fun Polaroid photo book and donuts from a local bakery instead of a traditional cake. Our food was done by a family friend’s catering company, and we chose our favorite family drink to serve – Margaritas! And to do something a little different for our wedding guest gifts, my stepfather personally roasted a wedding coffee blend with a customized label for our special day!

What was the most memorable part of the day?

Having Trevor’s dad, Kreig, marry us was really special, he led a beautiful ceremony. And reading our own vows to each other was the most memorable part of our day; something Trevor and I will never forget! A special moment during our reception was when Trevor and I got to take a moment to step back and look upon all of our most loved ones gathered together to celebrate and support our marriage! And then of course getting to dance the night away!

Tell us how you met and became engaged.

Trevor loves to tell everyone we met at a bar dancing (which is true but all credit should be given to one of our good mutual friends)!. She had known Trevor and I both individually before we even knew each other and always had in the back of her mind that Trevor and I should meet. So that night out dancing at a bar with friends, Trevor and I first met. The next day we ran into each other at church and then from there our friendship began, it wasn’t until many months later did we actually start dating. We dated for a little over one year before Trevor proposed. I had just returned home from an adventure trip to Banff, Canada with a good friend, while Trevor had been finalizing plans for the proposal. He showed up at my house with an old vintage side car motorcycle, handed me a helmet and told me to get in. He drove me along the back roads of San Marcos arriving to a full blooming sunflower field!! At this point I had a good feeling what was about to happen 🙂 He walked me out to the middle of the field and began reading me a letter he had wrote. Then he got down on one knee and pulled out a ring and asked me to marry him!! I jumped with joy saying YES, YES, YES! Trevor had our photographer friend hiding out in the sunflowers taking photos of us the whole time. Before heading back we took some time to be together in the field and then headed back to Trevor’s house where he surprised me with all of our friends there to celebrate the night away! It was one of the best days ever!!
