red and white bouquet

With 4th of July weekend officially upon us, we’re in the mood for all things red, white + blue…and today’s lovely Independence Day editorial, captured by Meghan Christine Photography, is delivering big time. We love how the team behind the pretty – the designers at Debra Meadows Events and floral talent from Revel Petals – created a scene filled with elegance and beauty, while still paying homage to the holiday’s authetic history.

Marisa of Revel shares, A wedding is a celebration of the union of two free people. So too, Independence Day is about our freedom as a country, and a celebration of our choice to be united together as its citizens. Inspired by this idea of liberty, love and union, we decided to style a wedding imagined to take place on the day we celebrate our nation’s freedom: The 4th of July. Merely uttering the words, “The 4th of July” conjures images of fireworks, backyard BBQ’s and traditional Americana décor. To represent the melting pot of the U.S.A., we deepened the color scheme, and focused on what we love about our country.

We were inspired by the flowing nature of watercolors, so we hand-dyed fabric to create an altar of ombre stripes. The water color theme was mirrored through the invitation suite and guest cards, where hand-painted flowers and stripes line the interior of the envelope. Bringing in more movement, the Bride’s bouquet draped and swooned in a loose arrangement, accented by long flowing silk ribbons where sweeping silver script declares, “United We Stand.”
