Getting the Most out of your Wedding Registry

0

Planning  a wedding is amazing, but when you begin your registry, you start planning your life together, long after the wedding. It’s the dishes you’ll serve your first Christmas meal on, the KitchenAid  you’ll use to teach your daughter to make cookies, the cup of coffee you’ll brew in the morning, in less than a minute thanks to Keurig. We think this process is a seriously important part in preparing to say “I do.”

Rainy Day Spring Anniversary Party Inspiration

Rainy Day Anniversary

When Naaz of Olive + Wheat Designs first sent this gorgeous styled editorial our way, one line in her submission stood out to us: A wedding day shouldn’t be the only time you get to celebrate your love! We totally, totally agree with that statement, and it’s one of the reasons why we love this anniversary party inspiration so much!

Naaz tells us, In bowling, your starting point is a reliable and effective body stance. In marriage, a 1 year anniversary celebration is like the bowler’s stance before beginning the approach. It is just as special, picture worthy, and unique. I came up with the vision for the shoot that included a touch of modern boho, a little bit of industrial glam and some tropical elements. We wanted to capture the couple’s unique characteristics so that the party could truly reflect them. The two of them love a good ol’ cup of aged Macallan and a game of bowl, so we knew we had to incorporate this into our shoot.

Let’s see how it comes together in the photos below by Lillywhite Photography!

12 Eye-Catchy DIY Massive Scale Wall Art Pieces

12 diy large scale wall art pieces cover

Occasionally a plain wall is not what you need to have and you want to produce a mood or an ambience decorating it. What are the options? Gallery walls, daring paint or unique wallpaper, and you can also decorate it with no breaking the bank – just make a wall artwork of your decision!

There are tons of concepts for a wall artwork, and nowadays I’d like to tell you of the most well-known and trendiest ones – large scale and oversized wall artwork suggestions. They are so trendy due to the fact they dip you into themselves and make a statement in any interior.

Truly, there are a great deal of ideas for any price range, expertise and type. Painting or watercoloring is maybe the simplest concept here, and numerous of you enjoy painting, I’m certain. Discover your inner artist, take a canvas, some acrylic paints or paper and watercolor paints and just allow oneself go wild with themes, colours and feelings painting. Seascapes, abstract prints, animals, cities – anything at all that comes to your thoughts and possibly matches your décor theme will do. If you really don’t come to feel like painting, create a geometric wall art using stencils or just washi tape to create some patterns.

Photo artwork is one more well-known thought, just print oversized pics that you like and spot them into frames – so simple, no inner artist necessary! To make the photograph art a lot more eye-catching, lower it in components and attach them to separate tiles, that will give your photograph some texture and volume. 1 more clever hack for people who don’t feel inventive: consider a ready thing, for example, a shower curtain with some print or image, place it into a frame, and voila, you have got a fantastic huge-scale wall artwork. Poster wall artwork pieces are among my favorites: just consider colorful paper of your option, or consider typical and stencil it by some means, then write your preferred estimates, phrases or motivators on these posters and voila! To frame or not to frame is up to you.

One more idea to share with you today is a textural wall art, for instance, this fish scale wall art. this kind of an art piece will require some time, efforts and persistence but it’s entirely well worth it! Put together metallic paper circles imitating fish scale, then staple them row by row to the background and following you finish, just frame the piece.

Study the tutorials under and discover information about every wall art piece you like, get prepared and go generate!

Romantic Georgia Wedding at Chukkar Farms :: Emily & Parker

I’m not sure what I love most about this wedding, the beautiful boho style, the stunning equestrian venue, or the story of how the bride and groom met… thankfully, I don’t have to choose, and neither do you! Read on for all the fun and romantic details, from bride’s charming floral crown to the food truck caterer to the groom’s musical appearance at the reception. So much here to love!

Photography by Kendra Elise.

How did you go about planning your wedding? I bought my dress at the Sentimentalist in Atlanta. The owners are a mother and daughter team with exquisite taste. Every detail in the store, starting with the dresses, is beautifully curated. I was so lucky to not only get my dress from there, but to experience their love and passion for what they do. They’re also my favorite Instagram account…which is exactly how I decided to plan our wedding. If I liked a photo they posted, I would see who was tagged and write those vendors down. That’s how I found my photographer, florist, and caterer.

Did you have something old, new, borrowed, or blue?  I kind of failed on this tradition. I Remember as a young kid playing in my mom’s drawers and finding her garter from her and my dads wedding. I probably loved it because it was so clearly from the 70s with its light blue satin ribbon and small floral appliqué. I love everything about the style sensibilities of the 70s. Well, she must have remembered I loved it (I’m pretty sure I even requested it at one point) because she brought it for me to wear on our wedding day. So I guess I did have something old, borrowed and blue!

“My bridesmaids dresses and the venue were my continual source of visual inspiration,” says Emily. “I told all my bridesmaids to pick out their own dresses in champagne, nude, or metallic tones. I loved the idea of that palette juxtaposed with all the lush greenery and weathered wooded pavilions. I kept coming back to that balance when I was making decisions.”

Says the bride: “We were initially really disappointed with venue shopping – we both wanted to get married on the campgrounds of the musical festival we met at, but were let down with the property. The veil of magic had been lifted without all the colorful musings of a festival. My mom actually suggested Chukkar Farms to us – it’s a Polo Field out in Alpharetta – and it had everything we wanted. Lush green property, beautiful mature trees, and all the grazing horses were definitely a bonus! Essentially, we wanted to be surrounded by nature.”

The Ceremony

“Parker is Jewish and I was raised Methodist. We both wanted to celebrate where we came from but didn’t want to exclude anyone. Parker and I were recently at a more traditional Jewish wedding and heard a reading from Numbers (6:24-6:26): “May the Lord bless you and keep you, may the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you. May the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.” I got so excited because it was also a verse that I grew up saying in youth group. Anything that both families could share during the ceremony was important to us. Parker’s uncle, who is a rabbi, came up and talked about the Jewish traditions we were honoring during the ceremony. He spoke about the symbolism of standing under a Chuppah, and the breaking of the glass.”

Your ceremony in three words. Celebratory, personal, and sentimental.

Who officiated your ceremony? My younger sister, Anne, is an associate youth pastor in Atlanta. She is already so invested and connected to both Parker and myself, having her marry us felt natural and intimate – a feeling both of us wanted to create in our ceremony

What was your ceremony music? Parker is a musician and his good friend from college, Ryan Gregg, is also an accomplished musician. He came to us with the idea of playing the accordion. The wedding party walked down the isle to Bella Notte and my dad and I walked down to La Vie En Rose…it was magical.

16-kendra-elise-snippetandink-emily-parker

What were your vows like? We chose traditional vows. To us, there’s something humbling about sharing the vows that so many people have said before you and will say after you.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding ceremony? How personal it was. I felt so connected to the family I was coming from and the family I was becoming a part of.

17-kendra-elise-snippetandink-emily-parker18-kendra-elise-snippetandink-emily-parker

What was the best advice you received as a bride? To remember what the day is really about, committing yourselves to each other. I definitely got stressed about the details even though I knew I would only be wrapped up in Parker on our wedding day. So trying to continually find that perspective was important in calming myself down in moments of stress. Because, truly nothing else matters, and the energy of being lifted up by your entire community of friends and family was the most contagious energy. It fueled us throughout the whole night.

The Reception

With a Southern summer menu catered by a food truck and the groom and his band playing after dinner, we understand why the newlyweds described their reception as energetic and a “giant danceable party!”

Seating assignments were displayed with miniature clothespins on twine strung across an empty frame. The table included wedding photos from the couple’s parents and grandparents.

Menu: Spinach Strawberry Salad with Balsamic Binaigrette // Pecan Chicken / Bourbon Peach Brisket // Summer Succotash / Macaroni and Cheese

28b-kendra-elise-snippetandink-emily-parker

What type of cake or dessert did you serve? We had a southern themed dessert bar with lemon bars, miniature apple pies, assorted cookies, red velvet and chocolate cupcakes. We also had a small vanilla cutting cake.

29-kendra-elise-snippetandink-emily-parker30-kendra-elise-snippetandink-emily-parker31-kendra-elise-snippetandink-emily-parker

What was your first dance song? They Love Each Other by Grateful Dead.  We did a joint father/daughter, mother/son dance to What a Wonderful World by Sam Cooke.

What was your favorite moment or part of the reception? Watching my husband play. The band he’s in, Elegant Bachelors, played the reception and he and one of his best friends joined the band for the entire second set. Nothing beats dancing to your husband playing music.

If you had it to do over again, is there anything you would do differently? Not a thing. Actually, no: more food in between champagne!

32-kendra-elise-snippetandink-emily-parker

Is there anything else that helps tell the story of your wedding? Parker and I met through mutual friends. He was playing a Last Waltz tribute show the night before Thanksgiving. We hit it off and eventually went on our first date. We discovered how many shared interests we both had, especially music. We had both even gone to the same small jazz and funk festival in Live Oak, Florida. After Parker dropped me off, I went back through an old Facebook album that I put up of my weekend at the music festival. I stopped on this picture of my girlfriend and me in a hammock posing with a stranger in a tie-dyed onesie. I remember we pulled this stranger into our hammock for a photo op because of how hilarious we thought his onesie was…well, sure enough that stranger was Parker, a year before we “met”. There’s a Hebrew word that my mother in law taught me, Beshert. It means “destined to be.” She taught me that word after she heard our hammock story, and now I hold the word close to my heart.

Kids’ Bedroom Inspiration from Dulux

Paint manufacturer Dulux recently launched a kids' bedroom campaign to encourage parents to involve their children in the creative process when decorating their bedrooms. The result of the campaign was six creative designs for a child's bedroom that not only look fantastic but that aren't really even that difficult to create.

It’s never easy to find kids’ bedroom inspiration that is creative yet achievable. However, Dulux recently launched a kids’ bedroom campaign to encourage parents to involve their children in the creative process when decorating their bedrooms. For this campaign, Dulux teamed up with Channel 4’s Secret Life of Five Year olds Dr Sam Wass, who is also a leading Child Psychologist. The result of the campaign was six wonderful designs for a child’s bedroom that not only look fantastic but that aren’t really even that difficult to create. I think these designs are brilliant so I wanted to share them with you.

SUPERHERO

Paint manufacturer Dulux recently launched a kids' bedroom campaign to encourage parents to involve their children in the creative process when decorating their bedrooms. The result of the campaign was six creative designs for a child's bedroom that not only look fantastic but that aren't really even that difficult to create.

This superhero design is perfect for any budding little superheros who want to have a hand in creating their own lair. I love the bright colours used in this scheme and the cityscape image, with its sharp, angular contours, makes a really bold statement. It looks like something right out of a comic book, don’t you think?

The building shapes are created by chalking around cereal boxes and milk cartons – in fact any interesting packaging that has a good outline will do! A good old potato print lights up the windows in the buildings and a tester pot of paint becomes the template for the light beam signal. It looks amazing but is one of the simplest and most fun techniques to achieve.

Marianne Schillingford, Creative Director at Dulux

Superheroes speak to children of confidence, of unlimited power. Children grow up by idolising heroes, by thinking them infinitely powerful, in real life as in fantasy. Growing up is a process of becoming responsible, but the early phase of thinking yourself powerful and to a degree, invincible is an important stage in a child’s development

JUNGLE

Paint manufacturer Dulux recently launched a kids' bedroom campaign to encourage parents to involve their children in the creative process when decorating their bedrooms. The result of the campaign was six creative designs for a child's bedroom that not only look fantastic but that aren't really even that difficult to create.

A jungle design is a really great unisex theme for a child’s bedroom and uses gender neutral shades of green to create this impressive landscape. It is perfect for encouraging your child to use their imagination and set off on an exciting jungle adventure. What kids wouldn’t be up for that?

This is one of the simplest and most effective painting techniques, evoking the feeling of being in the heart of the wild! Torn lining paper templates create a layered horizon with the sense of distance being achieved by using a pale green shade for the farthest bank of trees and the deepest, brighter green for the nearest

Marianne Schillingford, Creative Director at Dulux

The urge to explore and to go on adventures lies deep within us. The jungle holds a fascination for many children because it represents nature at its most exciting and vivid. Travelling, even if it’s just in our mind, is hugely beneficial for children. It encourages a breadth of perspective that can help their creativity.

STORYBOOK

Paint manufacturer Dulux recently launched a kids' bedroom campaign to encourage parents to involve their children in the creative process when decorating their bedrooms. The result of the campaign was six creative designs for a child's bedroom that not only look fantastic but that aren't really even that difficult to create.

This is probably one of my favourite designs from this selection. The storybook design is so lovely and calming and creates such a serene atmosphere, perfect for creative activities such as reading or drawing. The paint technique actually lends itself to many different themes as the sky is quite a broad design. But teamed with this cosy reading tent and lots of comfy cushions and rugs, this space is so dreamy. I’m keeping this on record for my girls, I’m sure they would love a cosy bedroom like this.

Clouds are a wonderful feature as they instantly dissolve the walls of the room and allow the imagination to create endless worlds above which they float. Once the walls are painted, adding the detail is very easy and, because clouds come in all shapes and sizes, it’s pretty hard to get it wrong. Chalking out the rough shapes helps and using a bit of sponge to apply tones of Goosedown and Polished Pebble Grey makes the edges visually soft – just like the real thing!

Marianne Schillingford, Creative Director at Dulux

Many children have deep, internalised, imaginative worlds. As adults we tend to be confined within our own, mundane, day to day lives. Children, in contrast, are far more capable of letting their imaginations take flight – of leaving the common and the everyday behind them, and jumping wholeheartedly into a world of fantasy. This room is a magical space that has fantasy at its very core.

SPACE

Paint manufacturer Dulux recently launched a kids' bedroom campaign to encourage parents to involve their children in the creative process when decorating their bedrooms. The result of the campaign was six creative designs for a child's bedroom that not only look fantastic but that aren't really even that difficult to create.

This space design is perfect for little wannabe astronauts and star gazers. This theme is perfect for trying to encourage impressionable little minds to explore and use their imagination to question what is out there beyond our planet. The dark colours are also very calming and conducive to a good night’s sleep…what every parent needs for their child, right?

We created the solar system effect by simply splattering thinned emulsion tester pot colours from deep blue to white over a black background. The wonderful cloudy shaped star systems literally appear from the end of the brush as if by magic. Deep colours in a bedroom have a magical quality that aids restfulness and blue is both calming and receding, which means that it makes the space it’s painted in appear bigger.

Marianne Schillingford, Creative Director at Dulux

It is useful to remember research suggests that even thinking about space, and contemplating its infinite glories, can be beneficial for your children. When we want to escape into our dreams, picturing ourselves floating off into space helps us free our imaginations.

SPORTS

Paint manufacturer Dulux recently launched a kids' bedroom campaign to encourage parents to involve their children in the creative process when decorating their bedrooms. The result of the campaign was six creative designs for a child's bedroom that not only look fantastic but that aren't really even that difficult to create.

This sport design is a great unisex theme for any sporty little kids. The bright pops of colour are invigorating and create an atmosphere that is fun to play in. It also helps to prepare the child for what they can expect to encounter when the time comes to attend school.

The running track painted wall effect is simple, clean, graphic and really easy to achieve. The trick to getting the look sharp and keeping the orange glowing is to paint the wall white before you start and mask off the white tracks with wide low tack masking tape. The big stencils are easy to find online and the white is applied through the stencil with a foam radiator roller.

Marianne Schillingford, Creative Director at Dulux

When children have specific sports idols, they see certain qualities they would like to embody. If your child is one of the millions of sport-loving children, this room is perfect for them. The bright colours, straight lines, and numbers on the wall speak of a perfect integration of the fun with the functional, encouraging your child to see connections between the world of leisure, and the world of being organised, at school.

CIRCUS

Paint manufacturer Dulux recently launched a kids' bedroom campaign to encourage parents to involve their children in the creative process when decorating their bedrooms. The result of the campaign was six creative designs for a child's bedroom that not only look fantastic but that aren't really even that difficult to create.

I think this is possibly my favourite of all the designs seen here. The circus theme is really bold, bright and fun. I love the way that the main impact of the design comes from the ceiling, so whilst it makes a really big, colourful statement, it is not at all overbearing. I also really like the idea of painting the skirting board bright yellow as it helps to balance out the attention that the ceiling will get. The use of colourful accessories really brings this room into its own and the look can easily be updated or changed simply by switching the accessories. I’m not exactly sure how easy it would be to get hold of a massive elephant though, or who for that matter would have room for one!

We designed this simple but effective paint technique to transform a bedroom into a circus tent and it’s something you could easily do over a weekend. The effect is achieved with stuff that is easy to get hold of: string, coloured chalk, cardboard, masking tape and red paint.

Marianne Schillingford, Creative Director at Dulux

The circus has, for generations, been much loved by children. It is chaotic, vibrant and full of playful energy – just like many children are. And it also has moments of surrealness and slapstick humour. For children, much of the humour that they first ‘get’ and appreciate, is humour of this kind.

Dr Sam Wass, Developmental Psychologist

So what do you guys think about this for kids’ bedroom inspiration? Which of these is your favourite design? And what do you think about getting our kids involved in the decorating process? Is that something you would consider?

This is not a sponsored or collaborative post by the way. I simply saw these designs and was really impressed with them so I thought you might like to see them.
