Maggie and James’ wedding at Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards

0

Maggie and James were married at the picturesque Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards and the celebration is absolutely breathtaking. The Girls From MSW planned a day filled details that are every bit as elegant as they are rustic—like ladders dripping with florals and suspended over dining tables and an amazing floral arbor—all beautifully created by the Tourterelle Floral Design. Thankfully, Katelyn James Photography was behind the lens to capture the adorable bride and groom on their gorgeous day set against the spectacular scenery of Virginia’s wine country!

How did you meet and become engaged?

From the Bride: We actually met online! Our first date was at a Spanish tapas restaurant in Arlington, and we talked for 7 hours straight until the last bar in Arlington finally closed. We’re both huge foodies and I’m pretty sure that half of that first date was spent talking about restaurants, cooking, and food!

James and I recently moved from Arlington, Virginia up to Delaware for work. We both miss Virginia a TON, so when James suggested we spend a weekend touring some wineries in Loudon County I had my suspicions that he’d propose, but also thought it could just be because we were homesick. We spent the afternoon wine tasting, and at every single winery we went to there was a rowdy bachelorette party that appeared every time we were alone, spoiling James’ proposal “plan A”. After hitting a few wineries we headed back to our hotel in Arlington and grabbed a cab into DC for dinner. James asked the driver to drop us off at the National Mall. He brought me to the Botanical Gardens where we’d spent time together before, and asked me to marry him there! I had to make him repeat his whole speech because I was so excited and crying so much that I missed about half of it!

What made the wedding special/unique? Memorable? Special touches?

From Katelyn: One of my favorite moments of the entire day was watching Maggie read her letter from James just moments before the first look. James reminded her of all the ways that she has made him a better man and how much he adores her. She fought back the tears but it was a tough battle. She was about to see him for the first time and their wedding day was beginning!! They’ve been looking forward to this day for years and it was finally here! Their family and friends arrived at Pippin Hill right as the sun was beginning to dip behind the mountain. The ceremony ended at dusk and the party began!

I absolutely LOVED their decor and details! They had antique ladders suspended from the ceiling that were draped in florals. Pippin Hill is gorgeous on its own but after Maggie and her mom added their touch, it was just STUNNING!

Coastline Inspiration

Nestled along the Jenner, California coastline, and in a magical cabin in the woods, the locations for today’s gorgeous editorial truly cannot be beat! You typically don’t think of coastal + woodland themes working together, but somehow planner + designer, Eileen, of E Events Co. + photographers, Levi Tijerina + Wednesday and October made it happen. And oh-so-beautifully, might we add. Below, you’ll find watercolor details, rustic design elements and perfect fashion inspiration for the bride + groom. As Eileen puts it, We wanted the location to really shine and speak for itself, yet keeping it romantic and intimate. The ladies of Venn Floral hit it out of the park with the florals. I mean, those tulip magnolias!?

Southern Spring BBQ in Charlottesville!

You may remember the Rendezvous Retreat photographer’s retreat in Jackson Hole last year—it was a week full of inspiration and fun, surrounded by the majestic beauty of the Tetons. This year, some of our favorite photographers (Christina McNeill, Carrie Patterson, Kate Headley and Jen Fariello) took the festivities to Charlottesville, Virginia. And this time, Snippet & Ink was the host!

We decided that a sweet spring BBQ would be a perfect theme for the retreat. Everyone loves a warm-weather BBQ, and we wanted to show that daytime weddings can be super fun, relaxing and easy to execute. You may have seen our inspiration board, which incorporated all kinds of Southern charm, deep purple and pink florals and vintage-inspired details. Be sure to follow along this week as we share all of the details from the retreat, plus some fun DIYs that you can incorporate into your own wedding or rehearsal dinner.

The retreat took place at La Fourche Estate—a beautiful, colonial-style mansion with 3 stories, several bedrooms and bathrooms. It’s the perfect place for an intimate gathering, like ours!

We wanted to create a beautiful BBQ dinner that felt relaxed, but elegant. We are so grateful to Stonegate Event Rentals for lending us their beautiful tables and benches (some of the nicest folks in Charlottesville!), which we mixed with La Tavola Linen’s black and white check linen. We strung lanterns from Under the Paper Lantern above the tables to create a playful and sweet ambiance. The table settings included both Havilland Ranson plates and plates from La Fourche Estate, and pink depression glassware from Circa. The floral arrangements were created by our guests! You can see how they made the arrangements in a workshop with the incredibly talented Shawn from Beehive Events right here.

Rock Paper Scissors in Charlottesville was so helpful in bringing our vision to life. They created a sweet strawberry-inspired menu, as well as strawberry seed packet place cards. Our favorite detail? The mini clothespin, of course! To complete the table setting, we paired these amazing Dot & Army napkins with a custom design of strawberries and each guest’s initials monogrammed onto napkins from Huger Embroidery. (Huger Embroidery made our napkins for last year’s retreat, too—check them out here!)

BBQ Exchange catered the event with an incredible BBQ menu, including Hickory smoked pulled pork, pulled chicken, Texas-style beef brisket, house made rolls, cornbread, mini pumpkin muffins, mac & cheese and homestyle coleslaw. The Cozy Caravan Club came over to serve up some delicious beverages, including wine from Thibaut-Jannison and Trump Winery.

The whole day was absolutely gorgeous, but we had a rain plan, just in case. While making our last minute touches, we got an alert on our phones warning us about a severe thunderstorm. We all banded together and quickly moved all the decor inside a barn, and continued on with the evening. It was a great reminder that not everything happens exactly the way you want it to—we had envisioned an outdoor BBQ with great music, great friends, flowing drinks and lanterns blowing in the wind, but we ended up staying cozy and warm in a beautiful rustic barn (still with great music, friends, and flowing drinks) while the storm passed. We like to think we got the best of both worlds!

Nate Berkus: His NYC Greenwich Village Penthouse

Nate Berkus just offered his chic NYC penthouse for $ 10 Million

If you remain up to date with house decor news you probably presently know that Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent offered their NYC penthouse apartment in Greenwich village recently.  I figured it was consequently a very good time to revisit since it’s soon to be packed up and vacated!

The foyer definitely has awesome and refreshing mediterranean come to feel.

The apartment is prewar, so you get tons of amazing moulding and architectural details.

 Cute loved ones!

I’m positive you have observed their kitchen close to the blogosphere.  The glossy black cabinets, wonderful windows and herringbone floors are incredible.

I adore all of the construct-in shelving!

Sweet child Poppy’s nursery. It certainly seems glamorous!

Poppy’s play space.  The constructed-in bench looks like a cozy place to perform.

The master bathroom manages to be glamorous with the stone backsplash and rustic with the hardwood floors.

Nate’s trademark eclectic and international style runs during the apartment.

OMG this stroll in closet.
