As soon as For Love & Lemons debuted its swimwear line back in December, we immediately longed for the summer to be able to wear those skimpy, sensual designs, and now that we can eventually see the For Love & Lemons summer 2016 swimwear collection, we couldn’t be happier. When Gillian Rose Kern and Laura Hall, the creative minds behind the Los Angeles-based label, revealed they were getting ready to sell a unique swimwear line all over the world, we were sure the result was going to be something extraordinary and overly enticing. With a strong lingerie-allure and a delicate feminine Californian touch, the For Love & Lemons 2016 swimsuits are all about ruffles and lace appliqués, and are finally available online at REVOLVE and Nordstrom.
Famous for their lingerie and knitwear creations, Kern and Hall decided it was about time to explore the world and literally navigate through new oceans, combining their hallmark style with cozy fabrics that could be worn all year round on the beach (depending on where you live!). To top it all off, they even custom-designed most of the details, such as the lace scallop edges you are about to see, as well as the dreamlike crochet embroideries that are just too cute to handle.
To hit it big, Kern and Hall asked for Dutch model Marloes Horst to pose for the camera lens of Zoey Grossman, whose romantic artistic touch just perfectly goes along with the collection’s overall romantic twist.
With a color palette that focuses on dusty, dark-toned reds and blues, as well as pastel colors such as blush pink and lilac, the For Love & Lemons 2016 swimwear line-up will just help enhance any kind of skin tone, from the darkest to the fairest. Although the majority of the proposals are monochrome, leaving it all up to the crochet and lace detailing to spice things up, some ensembles got adorned with equally flirty botanical prints, just to satisfy those who want something in between lingerie-inspired pieces and traditional swimsuits.
Geometric lace floral embroideries, lace-up detailing and high-waist slips will just make you wish for more FLL proposals, whether they are bikinis or one-pieces. Unlike bikinis, the latter could be described more as retro-inspired than lingerie-influenced, mainly thanks to the use of ruffles and Forties silhouettes. To top it all off, FLL also opted for a few sheer white bikinis that will take anyone back to the Sixties, and are basically just to die for.
In addition, the collection brings in stylish cover-ups to match with your favorite swimsuit and walk off the beach in style too. If there’s anything better than designing swimsuits, testing them out at the world’s most beautiful beaches might be close to perfection.
