3.1 Phillip Lim Resort 2017 Collection

Girls just wanna have fun-damental human rights, and Phillip Lim knows that. What Lim also knows is that feminism passes through fashion as well, and he specifically proved this statement throughout his latest 3.1 Phillip Lim resort 2017 collection.

3.1 Phillip Lim Resort 2017 Collection

Edgy and retro-futuristic, the 3.1 Phillip Lim resort 2017 line-up transcends what is usually regarded as a resort collection, focusing more on delivering something new rather than something that is ready to be purchased just before the spring and summer seasons.

“You usually think about pre-spring as easy-to-buy, digestible merchandise,” Lim declared backstage. ”This time I was, like, screw that. It should be about, ‘why do we need another dress?’”

One of New York’s leading fashion figures, Lim often asks himself questions before starting to design a collection, focusing thus on pieces that are functional, wearable and of course covetable too. He wants us to treat his creations as something to buy now and enjoy right away because we fancy them, not just because we need something to show off. With his collections he never fails injecting some fancy street elegance to our wardrobes, often playing with high and low combinations that are, moreover, overall quite affordable.

An accomplished tailor, Lim often states that he wants his works to speak for him, and his 3.1 Phillip Lim cruise 2017 collection surely does it, revealing his more androgynous, retro-futuristic side we have never seen before. Mixing innovative materials with structures that are very close to those of the Sixties and Seventies, Lim also injected some of this and next year’s hottest trends into his designs, skillfully balancing the solid vintage vibes with everything his customers expect from a resort collection, namely all that’s fancy.

In doing so, Lim incorporated baring cut-outs at the shoulders in flowing pleated dresses, even combining cropped pants with sleek leather materials and contrasting botanical-printed shirts. Juxtaposition is a strong theme within the collection, and goes through the color-blocking patterns, dichotomous fabrics and specular lines and cuts.

The 3.1 Phillip Lim resort 2017 collection includes both ethereal, lightweight ensembles and more heavyweight, winter-approved pieces, which not only denote the designer’s willingness to allow us to be able to choose what to wear according to the weather and our personal tastes, but also to put the focus on the usability and style of the designs. The line-up features a rich array of double-breasted mannish jackets, suede bombers and biker jackets, not to mention the Las Vegas-inspires short-sleeved shirts that are meant to be worn upon a long-sleeved t-shirt.

More ethereal details lighten up the Seventies creations, revealing Lim’s passion for and ability to create haute couture-esque slip dresses, lingerie pieces and more sensual creations, infused with strong street-style vibes. Sensuality is seen both in the more conventionally feminine pieces, and within the great variety of mannish outfits, which range from suits to cropped waistcoats combined with biker trousers.

Knitwear plays a huge role in this collection too, working its way into elongating the figures and proving mannish cuts, ethereal lines and cozy silhouettes can be easily combined together. To top it all off, the designer managed to complete each outfit with one or more statement pieces, which inevitably remind us about his terrific attention to details.

A Floral Collaboration that has us itching for Spring

0
We are over the moon intoxicated by the most fabulous collaboration between Green Wedding Shoes and their friends at Show Me Your Mumu. Show Me Your Mumu designs clothing for carefree adventurers and all their dresses are made here in the US! GWS worked with their design team on an exclusive print inspired by their love of florals that is perfect for your bridesmaids, as a wedding guest, honeymoon or the perfect summer day!

The Kendall Maxi has a soft V neck and low back which is ultra feminine and flatters every body, the wrap around skirt that creates a slit lets you pull an Angelina stance whenever you need (you never know when you’re gonna need it). Chill enough for a little pointy toed bootie and classy enough for an elegant heel. Kendall may be a young Mu but she is definitely on track to be your new go-to maxi.

The Hacienda Maxi with her pretty ruffle is flattering on everyone, and her elastic scrunch neck line will allow you to dance all night long. I think this might just be one of the most versatile dresses we have ever seen. Wear her as a tube dress, off your shoulders, or even on your shoulders if you prefer! Wear her to your bestie’s wedding or in your bestie’s wedding. Dress her down for a moonlight stroll down to the ocean or to that summertime school reunion and you now no longer have to dread finding a dress!

And our personal fave? The King Crop Top and Ballgown Skirt. Your love for the King Crop will make you weak in the knees the second you slip into this little number. Cropped to flatter with your favorite mini skirt, ballgown or swing shorts this top is sure to be a staple in your closet and your LIFE! The skirt is high waisted and zips you up so you look teeny tiny, and then sweeps out so long and full, just like a princess in a ballgown.

For getting ready the day of the wedding, we love our Romper – would make the perfect bridesmaids gift as well, right?

Champagne and Confetti Wedding

We’re starting off the week with a total bang because Ashley + Matt’s AMAZE pizza, champagne + confetti-inspired wedding is so incredibly fun, we practically dare you to scroll through this feature without smiling the entire time!

Theses two wanted to make their day personal, light-hearted and, most of all, FUN! Their amazing team of vendors, including designer, Jesi Haack, and planner, Love By Lynzie, definitely nailed that vision. Ashley tells us, My favorite color is “glitter”. Translation: we wanted our wedding to have a lot of pizazz. In the end, we had an amazing mix of textures, colors, and an awesome dose of rose gold that totally felt like us.

Big thanks to Tara McMullen Photography for capturing this super fun day and so much congrats to A + M!!

We love the amazing job that Jesi did with the balloons – she made an indoor venue really POP (so to speak), whether it was the balloon arch at our ceremony, the amazing ceiling installation in the ballroom or the idea that she had to use balloons as place cards!

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

As much as your day is about you as a couple, ultimately, it’s also about the community of people that you surround yourselves with and that come together to celebrate with you. It was important for us to acknowledge the many people in our lives who have helped and will continue to help us throughout the course of our story together.
