In the navy

Navy interiors are really on trend for 2017. Paired with white, it brings a pop of colour while remaining classy, intemporel and fresh with its undeniable beach house vibe. Combined with retro colours like mustard, it can also be part of a more retro 1970’s interior. Try incorporating it into your design scheme with new navy upholstery, upcycled dark blue furniture or curtains for a cosy, calming atmosphere.

Indoor climbing plants

Cacti and terrariums were already big in 2016 and the green wave is set to last with indoor climbing plants now on every plant lover’s hot list.

Think Devil’s Ivy vine, Philodendron, Swedish Ivy, Spider Plant, or succulents like String of Pearls and String of Bananas. These plants tend to like being placed near filtered light: a window fitted with light curtains or venetian blinds would be a great option.

You will need hanging planters: trendy options with retro macrame, beaded details and terracotta will bring great design flair and brighten up your space.

hygge home decorating idea

Hygge

Everyone’s been talking about it for months and it’s become truly influential this year: hygge, is the Danish word that can be roughly translated as “cosy”. It’s been hailed more of a lifestyle than a pure design trend but it’s already making waves in the design world. The hygge craze is difficult to pinpoint as it encapsulates many aspects but translated into the home, it means dim lighting, cushions, blankets: it’s about feeling good in your own home.

modern farmhouse living room

The minimalistic, modern farmhouse

The modern farmhouse trend has been around the block for quite a while but it always manages to rejuvenate itself with fresh and interesting elements. There are many ways to translate this trend into your home but this year is all about sleeker, more minimalist farmhouse style: the sempiternal all-white farmhouse colour scheme is mixed with accents of black, wood, bamboo and copper. Mix and matching is still in but opt for cleaner lines and warm but more discrete tones such as natural materials, warm greys, white and blacks.
