brown window boxes
Properly hello there! Hope you are obtaining a fantastic week!!
I. inform. you. what. – the weather (in Indiana anyway) is freakin’ me out. I am fairly confident it was high 40’s last week, and today we hit 93. Good. NESS.
It is also rained about 50 out of the previous 60 days. (You believe I child.) And now that it is not raining, it is 90 degrees. Great. NESS.
So anyhoo, we have a record a mile lengthy of tasks we want to achieve outdoors, but we haven’t be ready to get to much. But between the heat and the rain, I’ve lastly finished 1 task that was substantial on our checklist.
The summer season following we moved into our property, I did a TON of operate out front. The very first venture was to pull out the low lying junipers the builder planted across the front of the residence:
junipers
(source)And they just looked WEIRD. Way too lower and not adequate of an affect for our home.&nbsp
In their location I planted azaleas…beautiful azaleas! I’m type of half and half with my plant accomplishment – roses and hydrangeas hate. me. Lilies and azaleas and I get along fabulously.&nbsp
Final month (on a uncommon decent day), I began sprucing up the front of the residence again:

As you can tell, it essential it. ) Our shutters were hunting a sizzling mess. We haven’t touched them in 7 years and they desperately necessary to be repainted.
I began by removing the broken slat —
And then I power washed the shutters, set up a new piece of cedar and then repainted both sets of shutters.
I employed a brown paint from our tiny deck revamp final summertime, and it is SO shut to the original brown of the shutters, but not exact. So I went ahead and painted the window boxes again also:

I typically plant the wave petunias in the boxes, and I want I would have carried out that this year. They often finish of spilling out of them so superbly! These have not carried out significantly. )
I desired to add some potato vine (vinca vine is also skimpy) – but I cannot find it anywhere.
I finished the spruce up by clearing out the dead things and weeds:

And then I waited for Mom Nature to do her portion:
azaleas
She completed good. )
I talked about a couple of summers in the past that a tiny varmint had been digging into my azaleas and eating the roots. I lost my middle bush to this little booger, and it is taken me two many years, but I finally located the exact same kind of azalea in a respectable dimension to change it:

It’s actually two plants, but what ever. )
I’m hoping with some Miracle Expand and some lovin’, they’ll catch up to the other individuals.
But for now, I’m thrilled, simply because tasks 1 via 5 of 485 are Carried out!
Does not it look SO a lot better?:

I attempted spraying the minor birdie artwork off and it will not budge. )
Best timing bird.
Now…I just require to find a brave soul to get up there and paint the shutters on the 2nd degree:

Can you inform they are just a tad darker? Hubby swears you can’t even recognize it but then again…he Is aware of ME. 🙂
I can’t wait to start off the rest of the outdoors tasks – but it will have to be subsequent week due to the fact it’s supposed to rain for the next Five days. At least the grass will keep green!
Have you tackled any landscaping tasks however? What is your preferred perennial? 1 I won’t kill? 🙂
