Apartment Renovation in Les Corts by Roman Izquierdo Bouldstridge:
“The task consists of an apartment renovation of a sixties residential creating created by the famous architect Francesc Mitjans. It is situated in the outdated plot of Camp Nou Stadium, in the Barcelona district of Les Corts. The 83-square-metres (893-square-feet) flat is situated in the second floor of the developing, enjoying the green views of a park and obtaining the natural light of the afternoon sun. The original task was distributed with the standard division of partition walls and corridors. Light only entered in the facade rooms, leaving out the rest of the dwelling with a bad illumination and all-natural ventilation. The non-existent relation in-between the diverse areas originated a fragmented room without having park views.
The 1st intention of the project was to open up the space the optimum attainable, considering the entire apartment as a exclusive space looking to the park. Two wide glazed windows painted black emphasis the gaze of the complete dwelling from the interior to the exterior, acting as a frame of the green background. All-natural light comes in with all its brightness, giving joy to any spot of the residence and producing a warm sensation of spaciousness.
A game of visual diagonals is designed by the opening of a large sliding door, delivering a fluent spatial relation in-among the diverse regions of the apartment although offering a wider perception of room. Closet-bedroom-studio region is linked with dining-residing-terrace location in a exclusive atmosphere exactly where every day life actions consider spot in a normal way. At the very same time, the versatility of the sliding door permits separating day spot and evening region, offering the probability of supplying privacy to the consumer.
The white colour presence in harmony with natural light produces a subtle selection of tonalities and shadows that highlights the warmness of the wood flooring and furniture. Two carpets of classic Barcelona mosaic tiles are positioned in moist regions this kind of as kitchen and terrace. The continuity of the oak parquet is interrupted by the colourful mosaic patterns, achieving a perception of coming into in a distinct space. In addition to this, the green of the plants invites the park to come in the dwelling, establishing a dialogue with nature.”
