Studio Echelman has utilized far more than one hundred miles of rope to generate a sculpture that floats high over a Boston park .
The set up, named As If It Have been Currently Right here, consists of a internet of polyester twine and polyethylene ropes, made to sway gently in the wind.
Resembling a giant fishing net, the colourful sculpture hovers 365 feet (111 metres) over a portion of the Rose Kennedy Greenway, a series of public parks in the city’s downtown location. It is anchored to three substantial-rise buildings bordering the site and weighs about a single ton (907 kilograms).
The polyethylene fibre is 15 occasions stronger than steel, explained the Boston-based artwork studio, led by sculptor Janet Echelman.
“The sculpture is produced by hand-splicing rope and knotting twine into an interconnected mesh of more than a half-million nodes,” explained Studio Echelman.

At its widest level, the sculpture spans 600 feet (183 metres). During the day, it cast shadows on the ground under. At night, it is illuminated and resembles a billowing sheet of fabric.
